Two months after my second castration, I was given a serum-testosterone test. Unfortunately, this was my first one. A serum testosterone test measures the level of testosterone in the blood. The lab furnishes two pieces of information: the actual reading, and also the high/low range that applies to the person tested.
My result was a reading of 276. The lab furnished a range of 241 - 827 for my age, etc. The Urologist told me that based on my age and health, he would have expected my reading to be 600-800. The Doctor did tell me that he would expect a reading like mine in a male of advanced age, from age-related testicle failure.  He also said that he is generally looking for a reading of 250 or less before he prescribes testosterone (hormones)  to a man. The doctor also told me that a female would normally have a testosterone level of 20 - 80 as the female ovaries are capable of producing testosterone as well as estrogen. Because I asked, the Doctor explained than in a male whose only source of testosterone was the adrenal glands, he would expect a reading around 50.  The bottom line from the Urologist was this:  wait a few months and take another test.
Information that I have received from other Eunuchs leads me to believe that this is about normal two months afterwards, and also to believe that my level will probably continue to drop over the next few months.
I plan on having another test somewhere around the one year mark, which will be September of 2007. When I do, the results will be here.
